“Although I am a fan of white tableware, I wanted to add a touch of sweetness to Désirée in the form of a warm pink hue,” explains top pastry chef Roger van Damme. “The golden edge has to accentuate that luxurious sense of patisserie, without becoming kitsch.” Désirée fits in with van Damme’s big project for 2020: the opening of his new business of the same name, with which he lets a modern wind blow through Antwerp’s icon, Désirée de Lille. I didn’t rely on existing tableware or styles but did my own thing completely, a fantastic experience.”
