The initial idea behind Shades came about in 2020, when George Sowden discovered the extraordinary potential of silicon, which optimally diffuses light in a pleasent way. Silicon is a non-toxic material, as well as being easy to clean, shock-resistant and known for retaining its aesthetic qualities over time.
